Why am I here? Well, I know some things that I would like to share.
I have loved the earth, the environment, particularly trees, all my life. My children and my pets have all been named for my favorite trees: Linden, Hawthorn, Twiggy & Rowan. I love to be outdoors gardening and hiking or trail running. Water, in any form - creeks, rivers, lakes, the ocean and my huge garden tub - renews my spirit.
It’s no surprise I became an environmental engineer. For thirty years, I have been working to reduce pollution, finding sustainable business practices and conserving natural resources. At some point in my career, I branched (pun intended) out into health and safety. Then I became interested in wellness. The SHE in ‘SHE Saves the Earth’ is actually an acronym for Safety Health & Environment.
In November 2019, during a Leadership Louisville conference about women and empowerment, I was challenged to create my purpose statement. This what I came up with:
Alive with a passion for protecting people plus preserving and exploring our natural environment!
If you have similar interests, this may be the blog for you. I will describe issues that I confront daily as part of my job as Director of SHE. But I will also relate tips and tricks learned over the years, share what I have read or watched or listened to and describe where I go when I need to get out into nature.
Yes, I want to save the earth. Join me.
